A three-month closure order was granted after residents were subjected to anti-social behaviour incidents, including suspected drug misuse, nuisance behaviour, and late night disturbances.

The closure order was issued three days’ ago (9 July) by Leicester Magistrates Court, who have banned all visitors from visiting the property – Flat 20, Bennett Close, Hinckley.

Cllr. Michael Mullaney, Executive Member for Housing and Community Safety for the Borough Council, said: “Both the tenant and local residents were having to put up with offensive anti-social behaviour and I am glad action has been taken to help solve the problem.

“Everyone should be able to feel safe in their own home and this type of behaviour is unacceptable and this demonstrates that we will take action if required.”

A copy of the closure order is now being displayed outside of the house.

If anybody tries to breach the order then they could be arrested, and if found guilty, they could face a punishment of up to 51 weeks in prison and/or an ‘unlimited’ fine.
