It will feature works by Geoff Bailey, who has recently retired as the Head of Art for Market Bosworth-based grammar school, Dixie Grammar School.

Three individual themes will be explored – origins, ghosts, and shadows.

The themes in detail

‘Origins’ is based on Darwin’s theory On the Origin of Species, which looks at the evolution of mankind.

‘Ghosts’ looks at the decline of industries that ‘once dominated’ the area.

‘Shadows’ explores the use of light and dark in the history of art and recreates it in a ‘contemporary’ setting.

Gallery being set up

A Tweet was posted today (7 July) on the official Twitter account for the Atkins Building, which contained a photo of one of the paintings being installed into the Gallery.

The Tweet reads: “The next exhibition at [the] Atkins Gallery is taking shape! Origins Ghosts and Shadows by Geoff Bailey opens this Monday.”

How long the exhibition will be there

The exhibition will run for a total of three weeks’ and four days, from 12 July through to 6 August.

The Gallery is open on Mondays through to Fridays from 9am to 5pm.
