Cheeseburgers swapped out for cups of coffee at popular burger bar

A HINCKLEY-BASED street food takeaway have temporarily swapped their menu of chips, cobs and cheeseburgers to a new drinks-only menu of coffee, tea and hot chocolates.

The Snack Shack, based on Rugby Road, have focused on hot food since launching in August last year, but they have only temporarily altered their menu to only serve takeaway hot drinks and are currently trading as The Drink Shack.

An announcement regarding the temporary change was made on Facebook just two weeks ago (27 May), citing their ‘tireless work’ throughout the Covid-19 pandemic as the reason for the temporary swap towards drinks.

The statement, posted to the social media sharing site, reads: “It is with a heavy heart to inform you that [the] Snack Shack, who serve burgers and chips, are temporarily closing for a short while.

“We have worked tirelessly throughout lockdown to provide good food and service.

“The evening team need a break to re-energise, re-evaluate and we will see you all in a short time and we will come back bigger and stronger.

“In the meantime, The Shack will be providing freshly brewed coffee, cakes, light snacks and cold drinks during the day. More info to follow.”

They are offering very few foods on a ‘reduced menu’ basis, like toasties and paninis for the time being.

Drinks on the menu include coffees like chai lattes and caffe lattes, as well as regular hot drinks like hot chocolates and white hot chocolates, cold fresh milkshakes, and canned and bottled fizzy drinks.

Whilst the Shack is not serving very many food items, the Stottie Shop next door, also owned by The Snack Shack’s Dil Singh, remains open, serving up warm Stottie sandwiches and other popular menu items.

The Drinks Shack is located on Rugby Road near Hinckley bus station, which gives bus drivers and commuters a chance to pick up a hot drink before commuting on the bus to Coventry, Nuneaton or Leicester.

Dil further revealed a ‘click and collect’ service is in the works.

He said: “We’re working on a ‘click and collect’ service through the website where customers can order lattes, frappuccinos, or milkshakes online and then pick them up.”

From Mondays to Saturdays, it is open from 8am until 4pm.
