Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council took to their official Twitter account to reveal that 50,404 vaccines had been given to residents, as of 2.17pm today (26 May).

The Leisure Centre has been the town’s vaccine hub for four months, first setting up back on 14 January.

In the Twitter post, the team of vaccinators, volunteers, and Leisure Centre staff were thanked for playing their part in helping to vaccinate local residents.

The social media statement reads: “Over 50,000 jabs undertaken at Hinckley Leisure Centre.

“A massive well-done to all the team, vaccinators, volunteers, leisure centre staff and all the ‘behind the scenes’ staff – and to YOU for coming forward and having your vaccination.”

The Argents Mead-based fitness facility re-opened to gym-goers and swimmers on 12 April, following the easing of the lockdown restrictions, but vaccines continue to be handed out in a separate part of the venue.

As the Free Press reported in April, the Leisure Centre car park remains open and available to use, but it may be busy with gym-goers and residents receiving their vaccines, so the Council have suggested using the Castle car park on Hill Street as well, to avoid any potential car park chaos.
