The works on the busy main road approximately started at 8.10pm last night (26 April) and will continue to take place until 1 May at 11.59pm, meaning it will officially re-open for drivers at 12am on 2 May.

Leicestershire County Council have given contractors the go-ahead to carry out the works.

According to Stagecoach Buses, who operate in Hinckley and Nuneaton, the works are being carried out from 6am to 8pm each day until they are completed.

The Arriva 55 and Stagecoach 48L busses are running in both alternative routes to get through Strathmore Road, Westfield Road, Rugby Road and Hinckley Bus Station.

Diversion routes in place

Two diversion routes are in place for drivers in the town needing to avoid the busy blocked-off main road.

Trinity Lane diversion route

The first diversion route is on Trinity Lane and it is about a three-minute drive to Northfield Road, which will help drives steer clear of the works.

  • Head south on Trinity Lane/B590 towards Rugby Road
  • Continue to follow B590
  • Turn right onto Westfield Road
  • At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Northfield Road
  • Destination will be on the right

Granville Road diversion route

The second diversion route is a minute’s drive in total and can be followed by turning from Rugby Road north-west on to Granville Road.

Yesterday (26 April), a temporary parking restriction was placed on the car park of the Granville Road Play Park, but it is set to end at 11.59pm tonight (27 April), ready for public use again tomorrow.
