The Eggfree Cake Box officially started serving up slices of cake to foodies and town-goers yesterday (16 April).

The store can be found at the former home of coffee franchise Muffin Break (Unit 22b), which is adjacent to Costa Coffee.

They may be the newest occupants of the former Muffin Break site which served as a café, but they are not a dine-in eatery, instead they are a cake takeaway and delivery brand.

Back in February, Chris Suddaby, the Director of the Egg Free Cake Box, revealed to The Free Press that the chain were planning to try and open mid-March, but they were unable to open then because of the lockdown restrictions.

Although the third lockdown meant the Ropewalk was out of bounds to the general public, it had given contractors more time to install interior décor, storefront signage, and fix up the last touches to the space before it re-opened to town-goers.

Yesterday (16 April), a social media spokesperson for the Eggfree Cakebox took to Twitter to announce that the Nuneaton branch had opened their doors.

The Tweet reads: “The doors to our NUNEATON store are now OPEN! Head down to Ropewalk Shopping Centre to kickstart your weekend with a taste of *HAPPINESS*!”

It is the newest venture to join the Ropewalk at the time of publication.

Latest occupants lined up

Barclays Bank, a British banking giant are also coming to the town shopping centre while work commences on their new space, following their move from Market Place.

JD Sports, a sportswear goods store known for their shoes and their sports-branded apparel have registered interest in joining the Ropewalk, though it is not yet known which unit they will take on.
