THE TRANSFORMATION from toy shop to tattoo parlour on Regent Street is well underway.
The vibrant and bright red shopfront from the days of Hubbard’s Toy Cupboard in town are now long gone.
Since Hubbard’s closure in October, a new occupant named Black Helm Tattoo sought out for planning permission to turn the once-popular toy shop into a tattoo parlour.
Planning permission was agreed by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council for the unknown tattooist and owner behind Black Helm to take the space on as a parlour, where the plans were officially approved in December around Christmastime.
Signage has appeared in the windows simply reading “Black Helm Tattoo” as a vinyl sticker alongside their bright gold vibrant logo.
Fittingly, to reflect the name, the unit has also been painted black.
At the time of publication (10 April), the seemingly independent tattoo parlour had no social media presence or public contact information, meaning that a spokesperson was unavailable to comment.
Not the only new town start-up
This is not the only new start-up coming to town – as we revealed just a few days ago on 7 April, Hinckley’s former Game store on Upper Castle Street is being renovated and refurbished into a two-floor gym for members.
The new gym will be taken on by Just One More, a Hinckley-based independent gym group.
It is expected to open at the start of June on 7 June.
