BOSSES BEHIND one of Hinckley’s ever-popular and busy town shots bars, Vis a Vis, which had been going strong for 16 years have confirmed that they will not be re-opening their doors post-lockdown.

Publicans for Vis officially confirmed to The Hinckley Free Press that they will not be re-opening when the rest of the town’s pubs re-open.

The decision to close comes as they decided not to renew their lease to the space, as a result of pubs having to remain closed through the coronavirus pandemic.

An announcement was made publicly to patrons through their page on social media sharing site Facebook.

The announcement came with little surprise, though, as back in October last year (2020), the Edwards Centre-based property was spotted on the Zoopla website as a space ‘to let’.

Their saddening statement to regulars, posted this morning (5 April), reads: “I’m sorry to say that after an amazing 16 years our lease has come to an end.

“Due to the current circumstances we have decided not to renew the lease.

“My brother Martin, Kellie, and I would like to thank all the amazing people that have worked for us over the years, some of which have become lifelong friends, [and] all our customers for supporting us throughout the years through thick and thin!

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to have met you all through vis, it’s been an absolute blast!! and we will miss you all!”.

Vis proved to be a hit locally with clubbers and drinkers for their regularly discounted shots and cocktails.

In response to the news of the closure, one Hinckley resident, said: “[I] spent a few memorable nights in there. Good luck with whatever you do next.”

Another added: “[I] had some great nights in here and [I was] always made to feel welcome, thanks Kev and the team for some great times. Cheers.”

“End of an era! There’s been some cracking nights in this place! Thanks for the hospitality and of course shots! Wishing you lots of luck and happiness, Kev.” exclaimed another Vis regular.
