NOMINATIONS are now open for Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s annual ‘Making A Difference’ Awards.

The ‘Making a Difference’ award recognises the contributions that have been made by local volunteers who have helped strengthen the community and improved the quality of life for residents.
It is not just individuals who can be recognised for their contributions to the area – groups can be nominated for their volunteering contributions.
This year, there will only be one category to recognise your nominated volunteer, which can be an individual, group, organisation, or school.
Your nominee has to be someone who you believe deserves to be recognised for the support that they have given others throughout the challenging times in this pandemic.
Whilst it is still a tough time for all, The Borough Council want to showcase the positive factor of community spirit, kindness, and generosity.
The Borough Council have recognised the voluntary work from many residents over the past years and also the ‘significant upsurge’ of new volunteers, including young people.
Edwina Grant, Community Planning Manager for Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, said: “Coronavirus continues to present a significant challenge to us all.
“There are many people across the borough who have needed additional help and support during these difficult times and it has been amazing to hear about the many people who have come forward to help in countless different ways.
“The awards give everyone the opportunity to say thank you and highlight the support given throughout this very difficult year, much of which goes on behind the scenes.”
Residents are able to find information on how to nominate somebody for the award here.
Requests for paper forms can be made by simply calling 01455 255818, or contacting the Council regarding ‘Making a Difference’ here.
Nominations have to be made before the deadline day of Friday 7 May, which is just four weeks and six days away.
The ‘Making a Difference’ Awards event will be virtually hosted as a part of National Volunteers Week on 3 June from 6.30pm until 8pm.
All those nominated will be invited to attend, as well as nominees. Invite links can be extended to be given to friends and family.
