HINCKLEY and Bosworth Borough Council are working with energy supplier E.ON to offer free central heating systems to those in eligible homes.

The Borough Council are working with the energy supplier to offer eligible residents up to 100 per cent funding for a first-time gas central heating system with a free gas connection, or an air source heat pump central heating system across the district.

The service is only available to qualifying residents who do not already have a central heating system at home, and rely on inefficient heating systems, such as storage heaters or solid fuel heating, to keep their homes heated.

Interested residents who are able to benefit for the service do not need to be pre-existing customers with E.ON to apply.

The energy firm will install air source heat pumps which use electricity to extract heat from the outside air, in a similar fashion to how fridges extract heat to keep the inside cool – they can be used to heat both the home and hot water tank.

Those eligible for the central heating systems can benefit from free cavity wall and loft insulation, as well as funding towards solid wall insultation as a part of the offer.

The offering is operating on a ‘first-come, first-served basis’.

To find out if you are eligible and find further information out, E.ON’s call centre can be contacted on 0330 400 1095. Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council have a page on their official website with more information, linked here.

Cllr. Michael Mullaney, Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s Executive Member for Housing, said: “We are really pleased to be supporting our residents across the area with this great initiative.

“Through working with E.ON we hope to be able to improve the energy efficiency in hundreds of homes and ensure residents not only save money on their energy costs but can also become more energy efficient at the same time.

“We would urge eligible residents to contact E.ON to find out more and together we can help as many people as possible stay warm and healthy in their homes and help to save money at this difficult time.”

Nigel Dewbery, Residential Solutions Director at E.ON, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council to give eligible residents the opportunity to install either a free first time gas central heating system, air source heat pump central heating systems and a range of energy efficiency measures on their properties.”
