NORTH Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, who have a Hinckley-based College on Upper Bond Street next to The Atkins Building, have made the decision to postpone their upcoming exams.

It was announced two days ago (4 January) during Boris Johnson’s lockdown announcement that GCSE’s and A-Level exams ‘would not have to go ahead as planned’, but BTEC exams that were set for a week from now would still go ahead.

The day following (5 January), it was announced that there had been a change of mind and the Government had left it up to the different Colleges across the UK whether they would want the exams to continue amidst the lockdown.

Following the Government’s changed decision to let Colleges choose if they go ahead on their sites or not, the Hinckley-based College came out with a statement at 11.10am this morning (6 January).

A spokesperson for North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College confirmed on the official website that they had made the decision to postpone the BTEC exams.

The statement issued by the College reads: “In light of the Prime Minister’s announcement this week concerning the national lockdown and the information coming from the Department for Education and exam awarding organisations, NWSLC have decided to postpone all exams that were due to take place from 7 January 2021 until the end of national lockdown.

“This includes BTEC exams and other exams scheduled for the period.

“We will work with awarding organisations to consider and address how we can fairly assess the work of our students so that they are not disadvantaged by this decision.”
