Holliers Walk car park to become COVID-testing site

A CAR PARK based on the corner of Holliers Walk and Druid Street is set to become a new local NHS coronavirus testing centre for Hinckley residents.

The announcement was made yesterday morning by bosses at the Borough Council on the Council’s official social media platforms.

Holliers Walk car park closed at 6pm yesterday evening (December 10) in preparations for the works for the testing centre to be set up on the site.

Whilst the exact date of the opening of the testing centre is unknown, it has been confirmed that it is set to open some time ‘within the next week’ and appointments must be made in advance.

Residents who are showing symptoms of the coronavirus, such as a high temperature, continuous cough, or loss or change to their sense of smell or taste, can make appointments by calling 119 or do so online at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus.

Those who need to park their cars nearby can do so whilst paying visits to the town centre can park on Druid Street, Lower Bond Street, and Alma Road – a full list of Council car parks can be found here.

In the past, Hinckley’s former Lidl grocery store on Hawley Road was previously temporarily used as a COVID-testing centre.
