HINCKLEY residents are being urged by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council to vote for Argents Mead or Hollycroft Park as their favourite park in the town to help get the local parks on to this year’s ‘Top 10’ list for the Green Flag Awards.

It was only a week ago that we reported that Hollycroft Park were handed their eleventh Green Flag award and Argents Mead park were handed a Green Flag award for the fourth time.
The fourth award for the Mead recognised the Borough Council’s ‘substantial investment’ in the park over recent years.
Both of the parks are listed against some of the parks in the country and are in need of votes from residents in Hinckley and Bosworth in order to make it to the ‘Top 10’ list this year.
They are listed in the digital ‘People’s Choice Award’ voting system on the official Green Flag Award website.
This gives the public power to choose which parks make the top ten list for the year from all of the parks which have been handed Green Flag Awards.

Voting closes on Wednesday 25 November and the winning parks and sites will be announced eight days later on 3 December.
In a statement, Councillor Bill Crooks, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council’s Executive Member for Parks and Open Spaces, said: “We are very proud to have once again been awarded a Green Flag Award for both Hollycroft Park and Argents Mead and last year was the first year that Hollycroft Park got into the top 10 parks in the country, a great achievement.
“In these difficult times I am sure residents and visitors have appreciated the green spaces on their doorstep so it would be wonderful if they could both be recognised.
“Both parks are very popular, regularly used for a range of activities for children and adults alike. I would urge Hinckley residents and visitors to take a few minutes to vote.”
Paul Todd, International Green Flag Award Manager, said: “This year we have all seen the importance of our precious parks and green spaces. The People’s Choice Award is an opportunity to show how much your favourite park means to you. Make your voice heard and vote now.”
