A FREE PARKING scheme has been approved by Hinckley Councillors in three of Hinckley’s town centre car parks to help boost shopping during the half term week in mid-October.

The newly-approved scheme will allow shoppers to park for free starting from Monday 19 October until Friday 23 October in three of the town centre’s car parks.
These include the parking locations on Trinity Lane East opposite Domino’s Pizza on Rugby Road, the Castle car park on Hill Street, and Lower Bond Street just opposite the Atkins Building.
The special offer for this half term expands on the ‘free parking from 3pm’ initiative which has been available in these three locations since it was given the go ahead by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s Councillors last year.
Councillor’s statement
Hinckley Councillor and Council Leader, Stuart Bray, said: “Our town centre retailers and Hinckley BID are working hard to offer a range of COVID-secure promotional activities during the half term holiday.
“I’m pleased to confirm this Council will be supporting this initiative by extending free car parking all day at a number of our key town centre car parks which are already offering free parking from 3pm.
“We trust this expanded free parking offer will make Hinckley an even more attractive destination and help shoppers to support our town centre businesses and take full advantage of the great range of shopping, leisure, services and events we have on offer here in Hinckley.”
Helping high street shoppers
The free five-day parking will help shoppers who are out on the high street looking for offers and bargains as a part of the Hinckley BID’s ‘Shop Hinckley Half-Term’ event.
The ‘Shop Hinckley Half-Term’ event is set to take place during the half-term and is being supported by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council from 19 October until 24 October.
Over 50 shops and services in the town centre will be offering special offers this half-term as a part of the event.
The event serves as a ‘thank you’ from Hinckley Bid to town-goers who have been supportive following the reopening of the town centre’s businesses.
Hinckley residents will be able to take advantage of the bargains ready for the Christmas holiday.
Free ‘treasure hunt’
A free town centre ‘treasure hunt’ will take place whilst the event is running. The treasure hunt is aimed at families and will see 12 clues placed on doorways to shops placed around the town centre.
A total of 20 £25 town centre vouchers are up for grabs and available to be won. These can then be spent at a town centre retailer of the winner’s choice.
