BOSSES over at the New Baron of Hinckley have sadly had to scrap this week’s upcoming bingo event on Thursday night.
The Elmesthorpe Brewery-owned pub on Regent Street were going to hold their first ‘Burns’ Bingo Balls’ event for the first time since lockdown started back in March.
Due to the new Government guidelines which were announced yesterday, live events are having to stay postponed for now, so this week’s show has been scrapped and rescheduled to next month on Thursday September 3.
Leicestershire-based drag queen, Fanny Burns, was confirmed and scheduled to host the games of bingo as well as a ‘mystery bag’ game after the bingo had taken place.
At the time of publication, Fanny Burns was unavailable for comment.
A spokesperson for the New Baron said: “I think it’s rather unfair that the government make up their own rules last minute and forget how much financial and time planning goes into setting up an event.
“We are extremely disappointed, but we are merely postponing the even till Thursday September 3rd.”
New Baron employee, Shan Miles, said: “We are gutted to have to postpone Fanny Burns! But to keep staff and customers safe we have to follow strict guidelines from the government.
“We hope to have her back with us at The Baron very soon!”
