LEICESTERSHIRE’s own drag queen, Fanny Burns, is set to make her return to Hinckley’s New Baron on Thursday 6th August from 7:00 PM for another ‘Bingo Balls’ event.

Fanny Burns is no stranger to performing at The New Baron, as she made history as the first entertainer to ever host a live event at the ex-Wetherspoons, which was a stand-up comedy drag event.

The first ever live event at the venue was hosted by Fanny Burns back in January on Saturday 24 January earlier this year.

Following the success of the stand-up event, both Nirad and Fanny Burns decided to work in partnership to bring bingo to the town of Hinckley.

This partnership between the duo seen the pub transform use as a makeshift bingo hall and bar for select nights throughout the month, whilst retaining her cut-throat banter which fans came to love from her live show.

The Bingo Balls event is where patrons buy a bingo ticket and take part in the game to win the cash prize.

Back in February, when the first bingo event was hosted, the first place cash prize was £157, and the second place cash prize was £118.

A secondary game will be hosted by the host where customers get randomly selected to take part and win gimmick prizes like Fanny’s ‘used tights’, a Poundland-purchased gift, or even a ‘I love Fanny Burns’ badge.

Other prizes include a free shot, alcoholic drink, or £10 or £50 cash prize.

Customers will not have to worry if they get hungry during the event, as food from Niri Niri’s Flame Grilled Chicken, which is The Baron’s new in-house chicken venture will be available until 9.30 PM.

Fanny Burns revealed her thoughts on returning to the venue again next week. She said: “I’m so excited to be returning to The Baron for Burn’s Bingo Balls.

It’s been so long for all of us entertainers to be able to do what it is that we love – ENTERTAIN!

“The New Baron has always been a fab night for Bingo, and we will be back, and COVID-compliant. It’s a night not to be missed, and I’m very excited.”.

Elmesthorpe Brewery owner and Baron boss, Nirad Solanki, said: “We are really looking forward to having Fanny Burns back at the New Baron of Hinckley.

“She was becoming really popular with Thursday Bingos packed out and hope we can grow together successfully.”

Bingo tickets only cost £2 for customers to play on the night, on a first come and first served basis.

Regulars who still want a pint can sit on the ground floor seating area and enjoy their pints with other pub-goers instead.

More information on the event is available on the official Niri Niri’s Flame Grilled Chicken page on Facebook.
