HINCKLEY’S Rugby Road will soon be home to an exciting new street food venture in the town near the bus station, which will primarily focus on hand cooked chips.

This afternoon at 1.15pm, workers and contractors were spotted setting up signage for ‘The Snack Shack’, the town’s first ever street food eatery of its kind.

The Snack Shack are setting up shop in the former Tan ‘Ya’ Hyde tanning salon space. The unit is sandwiched in between Carter’s Restaurant and the Stottie Shop.

The new street food brand mainly pride themselves on their hand cooked chips, as well as the wide range of burgers that are on offer.

Residents can even help themselves to other snacks off the menu, like ‘Chunky chicken’ bites, vegetable bites, or a Bombay box.

The Snack Shack said that their mission is to ‘serve chips with a difference at higher prices with better quality’.

The Snack Shack are opening their doors tomorrow on 28 July for their early access ‘soft launch’, where passers-by will be offered free chips throughout the day, to sample their chips.

When the eatery opens, customers will be able to order food from the Shack, then watch their food be prepared and cooked in front of them through the window until its ready to takeaway.

A spokesperson for the Snack Shack explained further. They said: “We want to bring something different to Hinckley.

“Hinckley already have eateries, but they’re lacking the food being cooked in front of the customers.”

The eatery will cater to different for vegetarians, meat eaters and any other dietary needs, such as customers who are gluten-free.

Meat-based burgers are on the menu and will be prepared with locally-sourced meats from Hinckley butchers.

For gluten-free customers, gluten-free buns will be used. Vegetable and plant-based burgers are available for those who are vegetarians.

The potatoes for the chips are locally sourced with all of the food being locally sourced and the Shack have confirmed that none of their menu items shall be frozen at all.
