The virtual exhibition, titled ‘Uncover’, is the Hinckley College’s annual Creative Arts End of Year Exhibition and show, launched online on 1 July, and showcases a wide array of content from students all corners of the College campus.

The exhibition couldn’t be hosted in person this year due to coronavirus concerns, but the idea to make the project go virtual online instead lets Hinckley residents see what Hinckley’s hard working college students have been up to across different departments at the Campus pre-pandemic.

The end of year show features work from students who are in the final year at the Hinckley College site in different levels, from one to six who are unveiling their work in ceramics, art, photography, fashion and design.

The different departments listed on the website are:

  • Art and Design
  • Visual Media
  • Fashion and Textiles
  • Graphic Design
  • Interior Design
  • Media, TV & Film
  • Photography

The idea to launch the exhibition online came about due to the fact that the Hinckley College campus is still locked down due to coronavirus concerns temporarily causing the College to shut their doors to staff and students back in the middle of March.

Marion Plant OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive Officer at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, has backed the decision for the event to go live digitally instead this year.

Hinckley College Principal, Marion expressed her thoughts regarding the project.

She said: “The show marks the culmination of months of hard work and dedication by our staff and students and in these unprecedented times we are still committed to providing the opportunity to celebrate their achievements, albeit it in an alternative way.

“Although a physical exhibition is not possible at this time, we would like to share their creativity with you.

“We have created a digital exhibition and I hope you will be inspired, and that it leaves you with a lasting impression of the amazing talents of the staff and students at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College.”
