It has been confirmed that the former Poundworld in Hinckley’s Britannia Shopping Centre is under new ownership and will soon be open for business.

Poundworld spent a few years active in the shopping centre, but naturally shut in August 2018 when the whole brand went out of business.
On Tuesday 10th March, the people of Britannia Centre were hard at work, preparing the shop for reopening.
Of course, this shop won’t be a Poundworld, so the signage is expected to be removed in the near future.

Since then, the space has remained empty, but now it has been purchased once again.
Several of Poundworld’s features, such as shelves, tills and the overall design are to be reused for the new shop.
According to the shop owner, Mohammad, this store is set to be an independent discount retailer.
Up until now, Mohammad has been selling articles of clothing and other goods such as pillows, bags and belts outside of the former Poundworld unit inside of Hinckley’s Britannia Shopping Centre.
However, the new shop will be selling all sorts of general goods at lower prices, much like the site’s previous tenant, Poundworld.
Mohammad said that the store was set to open on Thursday 12th March, however, he later told us that he believes that the shop is becoming more likely to open on Monday 16th March instead.
The name of the store is still unknown.
Activity was first spotted on this unit just a few days ago by The Hinckley Free Press only a few days ago.
Work inside was first noticed last week on 4 March, when security from the shopping centre were spotted inside of the unit with the shop owner having a conversation inside of the space.
Since then, the Poundworld posters have came on down and Mohammad and his team have been working hard on repurposing the unit for his new shop.
We will keep you updated on if the store does open on 16 March or not.
