Railway pub reign victorious in Hinckley pancake race

Today marked the 10th annual Hinckley pancake race, hosted by Hinckley Bid, Hinckley’s Business Improvement District.

Businesses, schools, individuals and even mascots took part in the event.

All participants had to do was bring their own frying pans as pancakes were already at the event, with pancakes being kindly supplied by the local branch of supermarket giant Sainsburys.

The event ran from 12 o’clock and was cut rather short. It finished before the scheduled one o’clock finish time due to the bad weather.

The overall senior race winner of this year’s pancake race was 19 year-old Tom Upton of Steamin’ Billy’s The Railway pub on Station Road.

Tom walked away from the race with a trophy in his hand and a medal around his neck for participating.

Tom said the following about winning for The Railway pub: “I’m happy that I’ve managed to live up to the expectation of winning for the company.

“The pub manager, Adam, signed me up to take part in the event with him this morning.”
